The first round of talks between the United States and Iran took place in Oman. Regarding the discussions held by the delegations led by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and U.S. Special Representative for the Middle East Steve Witkoff, Iranian media stated, "It was constructive and will continue next week." In a statement from the White House, it was reported that the meeting was positive and constructive.
The increasing tension between the USA and Iran in recent months has escalated with the beginning of Donald Trump's presidency; negotiations initiated by both parties to reduce tensions have started.
FIRST ROUND COMPLETED
Today, delegations from the two countries held the first round of indirect talks in Oman. Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ismail Bakayi announced on his social media account that "the indirect talks between Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi and the U.S. President's Special Representative for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, began under the mediation of Oman's Foreign Minister Bedr al-Busaidi," and stated that the first round of the talks has been completed.
TALKS WILL CONTINUE
During the meeting, the parties agreed to continue the talks next week.
