The first statement following the suspension of DEM Party's Tunceli Mayor Cevdet Konak and CHP's Ovacık Mayor Mustafa Sarıgül due to "terrorist affiliations" came from the DEM Party. The Ministry of Interior announced that Tunceli Mayor Cevdet Konak and Ovacık Mayor Mustafa Sarıgül have been temporarily suspended from their duties. It was stated that Tunceli Governor Bülent Tekbıyıkoğlu was appointed as the acting mayor in place of Konak, and Ovacık District Governor Hüseyin Şamil Sözen was appointed as the acting mayor in place of Sarıgül.
