The resignation of Özgür Özel and 91 deputies from CHP to establish the "New Party" has upended political dynamics. According to Asal Research's latest poll results from July 2026, Özel's new party, whose founding documents were submitted to the Ministry of Interior, has directly risen to become Turkey's second-largest party with 22.6% of the vote, while CHP, which has been losing support, has fallen to 10.2%.
The first poll results have been announced following the historic move of Özgür Özel and 91 deputies, who resigned from CHP to establish the New Party. According to Asal Research's July 2026 survey, Özgür Özel's new party rose to 22.6%, becoming Turkey's second largest party, while CHP fell to 10.2%, approaching the electoral threshold.
ÖZGÜR ÖZEL SIGNED, APPLICATION MADE TO THE MINISTRY OF INTERIOR
Özgür Özel, who resigned from the Republican People's Party along with 91 deputies, officially signed the founding documents of the New Party. After signing the documents, Özel made a brief statement, saying: "May it be auspicious for the homeland, the nation, our party, and all of us."
It was reported that the official founding petition, bearing the signatures of the 91 deputies who joined the New Party Founding Board, would be submitted to the Ministry of Interior in the afternoon.
BALANCE OF POWER COMPLETELY RESET
Immediately after this historic earthquake in politics, Asal Research shared the results of an election survey conducted between July 12-20, 2026, with 2,016 people (using the CATI method) with the public. The responses to the question posed to voters, "If Özgür Özel and his friends form a new party, how would your voting preference be in the first general parliamentary election?" radically changed the political landscape.

According to the survey, while the ruling AK Party maintained its top spot, the newly established party directly rose to the main opposition vote share. CHP faced the danger of falling to the level of the fourth party, experiencing significant blood loss:
