The lawsuit filed by Ekrem İmamoğlu against the decision to annul his bachelor's degree was heard in Silivri. The Istanbul 5th Administrative Court will make a decision within 15 days.

The trial of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is detained as part of the "corruption" investigation and has filed a lawsuit against the annulment of his university diploma, was held in Silivri. The court is expected to announce its decision within 15 days based on the file.

In the hearing held at the Marmara Closed Penal Institution in Silivri, Ekrem İmamoğlu and his lawyers were present, as well as CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, İmamoğlu's wife Dilek İmamoğlu, and his son Selim İmamoğlu, who attended as spectators.

After the statements were taken during the hearing, the session ended. It was stated that the court would announce its decision regarding the case within 15 days based on the file.

WHAT ALLEGATIONS WERE INCLUDED IN THE INDICTMENT

In the indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it is stated that a complaint was made to CİMER on September 18, 2024, alleging that İmamoğlu's diploma was fake, and a complaint petition was submitted to the prosecutor's office on October 1, 2024, regarding the same allegation, and that an investigation was initiated following these applications.

The indictment also mentions that the institution where İmamoğlu studied in Cyprus, called "University College of Northern Cyprus (UCNC)," is not recognized by YÖK, and that only Eastern Mediterranean University is recognized in the TRNC, as indicated in the correspondence.

Additionally, it is stated in the indictment that the horizontal transfer quotas were unlawfully increased, changes were made to the lists in the applications, and 54 people were unlawfully admitted to a department with a quota of 3.
