In the Grand Kartal Hotel located in Bolu Kartalkaya Ski Resort, 79 people lost their lives in a fire that broke out last night. While the investigation into the fire disaster continues, a national mourning has been declared across the country.

A DECISION HAS BEEN MADE ABOUT THE BUILDING

After the fire, the building became unusable; the inspection conducted by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change has been completed. Journalist Fulya Öztürk stated on CNN Turk live broadcast that according to the preliminary report prepared after the inspection, the building was heavily damaged and will be demolished.

Öztürk said, "Teams from the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization came to inspect the hotel. The teams from the Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization examined the building. The preliminary report has emerged. In that preliminary report, it was determined that the building was heavily damaged after this fire disaster. The building was identified as heavily damaged and will likely be demolished."

"A CORDON HAS BEEN DRAWN, A FINAL SEARCH HAS BEEN CONDUCTED"

Öztürk stated, "The teams from the Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization have been conducting inspections for two days. Today, the preliminary report was released, and it was concluded that it is heavily damaged. For now, this is the preliminary report. Of course, the demolition of a heavily damaged structure will be on the agenda, but there may also be a confession process." She added, "For now, this is the preliminary report. The situation in the building is very bad. No one is allowed inside anymore. A cordon has been completely drawn, and it has been closed off. Today, AFAD conducted a final inspection, and a search was carried out. We are currently also at a distance from the building. If you look, it can be said that some points have completely turned black. The inside is already in a state of being unusable, completely turned to ashes."

"THERE IS A DEEP SILENCE IN THE AREA"

Öztürk also mentioned, "There is a great pain. There is a very deep silence in the area. And right now, there are still teams around this building. Both AFAD teams and teams from the local governor's office are present. But they have completely closed off the area around the building, and a cordon has been drawn. The gendarmerie teams are also on the field. And especially, let’s note that a cordon has been drawn to prevent anyone from passing close to the building. The gendarmerie teams are not allowing anyone near the area. The building already suffered serious damage during this fire."
