It has been revealed that the human skull found in a trash container in Adana was thrown away by the wife of a specialist doctor who was cleaning the house. It was determined that the doctor had obtained the skull from a cemetery worker in Hatay for educational purposes while he was a student at university 31 years ago. While examinations on the skull continue at the Forensic Medicine Institute, the doctor has been released under judicial control.

On May 9th, around 11:30 AM, in the Gürselpaşa neighborhood of the Seyhan district in Adana, the site’s building attendant İsa Kaplan (40) found a human skull wrapped in paper inside one of the bags in a trash container on Mavi Boulevard. Panicking, Kaplan reported the situation to the site’s security officer. Following the report, crime scene investigation teams were dispatched to the area. Initial assessments indicated that the skull was believed to belong to a child, and after the work conducted at the scene, it was taken to the Adana Forensic Medicine Institution.

As part of the investigation launched regarding the incident, the Homicide Bureau teams examined the security camera footage in the area. It was determined that the trash bag containing the skull was thrown away by G.S. (51), a Chest Diseases Specialist at Yüreğir State Hospital, through his wife G.I.S. (42), who was cleaning the house. G.S., who was attending a seminar in Van at the time, went to the police station after returning to the city and seeing the news.

HE TOOK IT FROM A CEMETERY ATTENDANT WHEN HE WAS A STUDENT



It was revealed that G.S., who was a student at Ege University Faculty of Medicine in 1994, obtained the skull from a cemetery attendant in Samandağ, Hatay, for educational purposes. It was stated that G.S. had kept the skull at home until now and did not know to whom it belonged.

"I USED IT FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES"



In his statement at the police station, G.S. said, "I used it for educational purposes. I kept it because I thought it might be useful for future students." He was released under judicial control by the court he was brought to at the courthouse. It was reported that the examination of the skull at the Forensic Medicine Institution is ongoing.
