Former İETT employee Cihan Demirel claimed that he worked as a motor mechanic master at the İETT garage for four years, and that second-hand parts were installed in buses instead of new parts, with these parts being invoiced as new. Demirel stated, "By installing old parts as new, they are causing citizens to die."
Additionally, Demirel pointed out that the license and engine numbers of the buses in the İETT fleet do not match, and that irregularities occurred during the inspection processes, and he filed a criminal complaint regarding these allegations. Demirel also claimed that he received death threats during this process and was dismissed without compensation, using the following statements:
"I personally delivered all the documents to the necessary official authorities and judicial authorities. Regarding the tender, for example, companies are found insufficient. İETT General Managers are also involved in this. For all applying companies, either 'the documents are incomplete' is said, or 'they do not meet these conditions' is said. They are handing over the tender to their supporters. In other words, they are both torturing the people of Istanbul, robbing the people of Istanbul, and receiving large payments every month for work that is not done from the state’s treasury."
"I STARTED WORK AT THE MINISTRY THANKS TO TEVFİK GÖKSÜ"
After Demirel's statements, an X account named 'Büyükşehir Çalışıyor' published a striking video. In the footage, the person speaking is claimed to be Demirel, who allegedly stated that he started working at the Ministry of Transport thanks to Esenler Mayor Tevfik Göksu.
JET DENIAL FROM TEVFİK GÖKSU
After the allegations spread on social media, Esenler Mayor Mehmet Tevfik Göksu published a statement regarding the issue on his social media account.
While denying the allegations, Göksu used the following statements:
"I have never seen the person named Cihan Demirel, who claims to have gotten a job at our Ministry of Transport using my name, I have not met him, and I do not know who he is. His statements regarding me are false. We are initiating legal proceedings regarding him."
"İETT DID NOT WORK"
In a statement made on the official account of İETT regarding the issue, it was stated that the person named Cihan Demirel has never worked in the İETT staff.
