The Ministry of Trade extended the duration of the '6 months-6 thousand kilometers' and listing restriction regulations, implemented to ensure price stability in second-hand automotive trade and protect consumers, until January 1, 2027. A total of 170 million lira in fines have been imposed for violations to date.

The Ministry of Trade announced that the "6 months-6,000 kilometers" and listing restriction regulations, implemented to ensure price stability in automotive trade and protect consumer interests, have been extended until January 1, 2027.

In a written statement from the Ministry on the matter, it was stated that efforts continue to establish a fair, competitive, and stable market structure in the automotive sector, prevent speculative price formations, combat hoarding activities, and protect consumers.

In this context, the statement recalled that the regulation preventing the direct or indirect marketing or sale of motorcycles, automobiles, and off-road vehicles by those engaged in second-hand motor land vehicle trade unless 6 months and 6,000 kilometers have elapsed since the first registration date remains in effect. It also noted that the "listing restriction" practice, which prevents the marketing of second-hand motor land vehicles via listings at a price above the current sales price recommended by the manufacturer or distributor, continues.

"APPROXIMATELY 116 MILLION LIRA IN FINES IMPOSED ON THOSE VIOLATING THE LISTING RESTRICTION"

In the statement, the following expression was used: "As a result of the inspections conducted by our Ministry, a total of 54 million lira in administrative fines have been imposed to date on authorized automobile dealers and car gallery businesses that acted contrary to the 6-month 6,000-kilometer regulation, and approximately 116 million lira on individuals and businesses that violated the listing restriction."

Pointing out that these regulations have made significant contributions to ensuring price stability in the automotive market, preventing speculative price increases, combating hoarding, preventing unfair commercial gains, and reducing consumer grievances, the statement noted the following:

"Accordingly, the duration of the '6 months 6,000 kilometers' regulation and the listing restriction practices has been extended by our Ministry for another 6 months and will remain in effect until January 1, 2027. Additionally, notaries will continue to prevent sales contrary to the regulation by both businesses holding second-hand motor land vehicle trade authorization certificates and real or legal persons who sell three or more second-hand motor land vehicles without an authorization certificate within a calendar year. As the Ministry, we will continue to meticulously carry out our inspection and regulatory activities to maintain price stability in automotive trade, strengthen a fair and balanced market structure, combat informality, and protect the rights and interests of our consumers."
