After the fires in Menderes and Seferihisar in İzmir, flames are now rising from the Çeşme district. Some houses have been evacuated in three neighborhoods threatened by the fire. While the struggle against the flames has been ongoing for 20 hours, the İzmir-Çeşme highway has been closed as a precaution. Ground efforts to extinguish the fire are continuing. With the dawn, intervention in the fire has resumed.

The fire that broke out in the agricultural area of Ildır Neighborhood in Çeşme district of İzmir spread to the forested area due to the effect of the wind.
Upon notification, 6 planes, 19 helicopters, 39 water trucks, 14 water supply vehicles, and 4 bulldozers from the İzmir Regional Directorate of Forestry were dispatched to the area along with firefighting teams.
The Riot Control Vehicle (TOMA) also supported the extinguishing efforts. Due to the fire risk, the neighborhoods of Ildır and Germiyan in Çeşme, as well as the Nohutalan Neighborhood in Urla district, were evacuated.
HIGHWAY CLOSED
Due to the intensifying wind in the region, extinguishing efforts are being carried out with difficulty. The fire is advancing towards the Kutlu Aktaş Dam. In the area experiencing power outages, measures have been taken with reinforcement teams to prevent the fire from spreading to transformers and businesses.
The İzmir-Çeşme highway was closed to traffic for safety reasons. The flames, which spread due to the wind, reached the İzmir-Çeşme Highway, causing the road to be closed to traffic in both directions.
3 NEIGHBORHOODS EVACUATED
İzmir Governor Süleyman Elban, who conducted inspections in the fire area, stated to the press near Germiyan Neighborhood that the fire started in the agricultural area of Ildır Neighborhood and spread to the forested area due to winds reaching speeds of 85 kilometers per hour.
Governor Elban noted that the teams began aerial and ground intervention within approximately 13 minutes after the notification:
"Due to the very rapid wind, the fire quickly spread towards our Germiyan, Karaköy, and Nohutlu neighborhoods. By 8:30 PM, we continued our fight with 6 planes, 20 helicopters from the air, and since that time, our friends have been working with 217 ground vehicles, 783 personnel, along with our gendarmerie and police personnel ensuring safety and traffic."
The fire threatened 3 neighborhoods, and we evacuated these 3 neighborhoods. As of now, the fire has not yet been brought under control. However, thankfully, we have not had any casualties or injuries so far. We have also evacuated some of our sites in the Ildır area where the fire started. Currently, it does not directly threaten residential areas."
Elban stated that they assessed the fire as having originated from the power line, saying, "Both the initial assessment made by the technical teams and what witnesses in the vicinity have told us indicate that it started from the power line."
Governor Elban was accompanied by the Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Major General Metin Düz, Çeşme District Governor Mehmet Maraşlı, and Urla District Governor Mustafa Gözlet.
FIRE CAPTURED BY DRONE
The fire that broke out in the agricultural land in Çeşme district of İzmir spread to the forest due to the intensity of the wind. The damage caused by the fire, which continued throughout the night, became apparent when daylight broke. The fire area was captured by drone. Meanwhile, aerial intervention resumed with the dawn.
A FIRE ALSO BROKE OUT IN ÖDEMİŞ, 3 NEIGHBORHOODS EVACUATED
Following the ongoing fire in Çeşme district of İzmir, another fire broke out in Ödemiş district. It was reported that the flames approached residential areas, leading to the evacuation of 3 rural neighborhoods.
The fire occurred around 10:00 PM in the forested area of Tosunlar Neighborhood in the district. As the flames spread due to the strong wind, teams were dispatched to the area. While the neighborhoods of Tosunlar, Suçıktı, and Köseler were evacuated, efforts to control the flames are ongoing.
