Israel is resisting the process of a memorandum of understanding planned to be signed tomorrow between the US and Iran. It has been claimed that the Israeli army will not withdraw from the military "security zone" it established in southern Lebanon even if the Washington-Tehran agreement takes effect. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also summoned his narrow security cabinet for a meeting following these developments.

GROUND OPERATION WILL BE HALTED, BUT THE ARMY WILL NOT WITHDRAW FROM THE SECURITY ZONE

In a report by Israeli state television citing unnamed security sources, it was stated that the army is preparing for the possibility of halting the ground operation in southern Lebanon as part of the emerging agreement process between the US and Iran.

It was also claimed that the army is preparing to reduce attacks deep into Lebanon, but military "operations" will continue intensively in the south. It was noted that the Israeli army will not withdraw from the security zone in southern Lebanon even if it is included in the agreement.

The report also noted that this issue is expected to be discussed with the Lebanese side in the US in about a week and a half.

NETANYAHU TO CONVENE THE CABINET

The Yediot Ahronot newspaper reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will convene the narrowed security cabinet at 19:30 local time.

Following the announcement of this meeting decision, it was pointed out in the country's press, including Israeli state television KAN, that political authorities are likely to decide to "halt the Israeli army's advance in southern Lebanon."

A YELLOW LINE SIMILAR TO THAT IN GAZA HAD BEEN ESTABLISHED

Last April, Israel announced that it had established a Yellow Line similar to the one in Gaza south of the Litani River.

With this imaginary line extending to the border, Israel stated that it is trying to prevent the return of displaced persons to Lebanon and any armed activity. Israel claims that this region will not be covered by ceasefire agreements.
