In the investigation initiated due to the possibility of a terrorist connection, it was determined that the attack was carried out due to a debt issue.
AFTER THE EXPLOSION, TEM AND INTELLIGENCE IN ACTION
The Istanbul Police Department's Counter-Terrorism and Intelligence Branches have launched a comprehensive study regarding the explosion of the cargo package left at the consultation point at the entrance of the site. As a result of the explosion, 2 people were injured along with the recipient J.H.
REACHED THE COURIER'S GSM LINE
In the conducted operations, the courier E.C., who delivered the cargo package, was caught. The teams also identified the GSM line used for the cargo request and the communication network established through this line. Investigations revealed that the line was obtained using someone else's information.
6 SUSPECTS DETAINED
Within the scope of the investigation, S.A., A.Ç., A.A., and M.K., who were determined to be involved in the cargo process, along with C.G., who was found to have assisted in hiding the suspect M.K., were detained. Thus, 6 suspects related to the incident were taken to the police.
REASON FOR HOSTILITY: DEBT ISSUE
During the interrogation of the suspects, it was determined that the person who delivered the bomb cargo package to the courier was M.K. It was found that there was hostility between M.K. and J.H., who was injured in the explosion, due to a debt issue, and that the act was planned for this reason.
It was learned that 2 people, including J.H., who were injured during the explosion, were discharged after their treatment in the hospital.
HOW DID THE INCIDENT OCCUR?
The incident occurred on Saturday, January 10, in Zeytinburnu. A person wearing a helmet left a cargo package at a consultation point of a site. The package exploded at 1:36 PM as it was being opened by the recipient J.H. Three people were injured in the explosion.
