Following 18-hour critical talks between the US and Iran in Switzerland, the Iran-affiliated Tasnim News Agency reported that no nuclear negotiations have taken place in Switzerland so far. The report also stated that no meeting occurred between Iranian officials and IAEA Director Rafael Grossi.
While diplomatic contacts reportedly taking place between the US and Iran in Switzerland remain on the global agenda, a notable statement has come from Tehran.
In a report by Tasnim News Agency, known for its proximity to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), citing a source close to the Iranian negotiating team, it was claimed that no nuclear negotiations have taken place in Switzerland so far.
"NO MEETING WITH IAEA CHIEF GROSSI EITHER"
According to the source in the report, no meeting took place in Switzerland between Iranian officials and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi either.
The statement came after recent claims that diplomatic channels between the US and Iran had been revitalized and the parties were holding critical talks in Switzerland.
BACK-TO-BACK STATEMENTS CAUSE CONFUSION
Meanwhile, Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had previously stated in remarks that they achieved significant economic gains following the talks in Switzerland, claiming that some sanctions exemptions on oil and petrochemical exports were obtained and a portion of frozen assets were released.
Additionally, it was announced that a joint mechanism involving the US, Iran, and Lebanon would be established to prevent the resumption of conflicts in Lebanon, following talks conducted with mediation by Qatar and Pakistan.
EYES ON WASHINGTON AND TEHRAN
Tasnim's report has increased questions regarding the scope and nature of the talks reportedly taking place in Switzerland. New statements from the parties will reveal the true extent of the US-Iran rapprochement that has been widely discussed in recent days.
