In Bursa, 556 grams of methamphetamine were seized from a jacket thrown out of a vehicle stopped by the police, which contained 8 packages. The three individuals in the vehicle claimed, "The jacket is not mine," while giving their statements. The court decided that after the DNA identification of the jacket, it should be brought to the next hearing to determine to whom it belongs, and ordered the defendants to wear it. The court panel warned the defendants to "maintain your weight."

The Yunus Teams of the Bursa Provincial Police Department's Public Order Branch stopped a car with the license plate 16 R 1153 on suspicion in the Sinandede neighborhood of the Yıldırım district in March 2024. Emrah Işık, who got out of the vehicle stopped in the middle of the road, threw his blue and orange jacket on the ground and kicked it under the car to escape.

The judge said 'don't gain weight'! The jacket will lead to imprisonment for the defendant it fits.

556 GRAMS OF DRUGS FOUND IN THE JACKET

In an incident captured by a security camera belonging to a nearby market, the police who apprehended Işık detained M.C., who was driving the car, along with his wife E.C. and Murat Can Kunter, who was sitting in the back seat. The teams seized a total of 556 grams of methamphetamine in 8 packages from the pockets of the jacket thrown under the car, while 126,000 TL was found during a body search of E.C.

“THE JACKET IS NOT OURS” THEY SAID

During the identity check, it was determined that Emrah Işık and Kunter had numerous criminal records for "selling and using drugs." E.C. was released after her procedures at the police station. The suspects, Işık and Kunter, who denied the accusations during their interrogations and claimed that the jacket containing the drugs did not belong to them, were arrested by the court they were brought to, while M.C. was released under judicial control.

UP TO 10 YEARS OF IMPRISONMENT SOUGHT

As a result of the prosecutor's investigation, a decision was made not to prosecute E.C., while a case was opened at the Bursa 5th High Criminal Court against the two detained suspects and one suspect released without detention for "trafficking or supplying drugs or stimulants," seeking up to 10 years in prison.

“HE TOLD ME TO 'TAKE THE JACKET AND THROW IT'”

In his statement at the hearing, Emrah Işık claimed that the jacket from which drugs were seized belonged to the other detained suspect, Murat Can Kunter, saying, "The jacket from which the drugs were seized belongs to Murat Can Kunter. While walking down the street with Murat, we came across M.C.'s car. We asked him to drop us off at the taxi stand. While we were in the car, when Murat saw the police, he handed me the jacket and said, 'Take the jacket and throw it.' When I refused, I got out of the car and he threw the jacket on me. I kicked the jacket away with my foot to avoid taking it."

“I HAD A DEBT OF 10 THOUSAND LIRA”

Kunter stated that he only used drugs and did not sell them, saying, "I had a debt of 10 thousand lira to Emrah Işık. I met him that day to collect it. On the way, we saw M.C. We asked him to drop us off at the taxi stand. While we were going, the police stopped us. When the car stopped, Emrah tried to escape but the police caught him. I don't know to whom the jacket belongs."

“126 THOUSAND LIRA IS FROM OUR CHILDREN'S CIRCUMCISION WEDDING”

The released suspect M.C. denied the accusations, stating that the jacket did not belong to him and that the 126,000 TL found on his wife was the money from the gold they exchanged for their children's circumcision wedding, requesting his acquittal.

THEY WORE EACH OTHER'S JACKETS IN COURT

The court panel asked all three suspects about their height and weight to determine to whom the jacket with drugs in the pockets belonged. Emrah Işık stated, "I am 172 cm tall and weigh 96 kg," while Murat Can Kunter said, "Your Honor, I weigh 90 kg and am 180 cm tall." M.Ç. responded, "I weigh 105 kg and am 170 cm tall." The court panel requested the suspects to take off the jackets they wore to the hearing and asked the bailiff to check the sizes of the jackets worn by the three suspects. The court dressed Işık in an 'XL' jacket, M.C. in a '5XL' jacket, and Kunter in jackets with unreadable size tags to see if they fit them.

THE COURT PANEL WARNED "PROTECT YOUR WEIGHT"

It was observed that Murat Can Kunter's jacket was too big for Emrah Işık, while M.C.'s 5XL jacket was also very large on the other two suspects. While documenting this, the current physical states of the suspects were also photographed and added to the file. The panel decided that after the DNA test of the jacket from which drugs were seized, it would be brought to the next hearing and dressed on the suspects to determine to whom it belonged. The court also verbally warned Işık, Kunter, and M.C. to maintain their current weights and postponed the trial.
