The grieving father of young footballer Kubilay Kaan Kundakçı, who was killed in a armed attack while trying to mediate in Ümraniye, claimed he received threatening messages. Father Kundakçı said, "We received some messages like 'If you don't pursue this matter, we killed your child, we won't let him rest in his grave, and we won't give you peace either.'"
On March 19, in the Ümraniye district of Istanbul, Kubilay Kaan Kundakçı, who was seriously injured as a result of gunfire opened by suspects arriving in luxury vehicles with sirens while trying to mediate between Aleyna Kalaycıoğlu and singer Canbay, died in the hospital where he was taken. The Sakarya football player Kubilay Kaan Kundakçı was bid farewell to his final journey after the funeral prayer held following the afternoon prayer at the Merkez Mosque in the Yuvalıdere neighborhood of his hometown, Karasu.
"IF THIS INCIDENT IS COVERED UP, MANY KUBILAYS WILL DIE"
Before the funeral prayer, the grieving father Cemil Kundakçı stated in a press statement, "If this incident is covered up, if this matter is closed, many Kubilays will die. Many of our children will be lost. The person responsible for my son's death is a businessman. He is also a father. His wife is a mother. If this incident happened to their child, just as my wife and I are in pain, they would also feel the same pain," he said.
MESSAGES TO THE FATHER: "'WE WON'T LET YOUR CHILD REST IN HIS GRAVE"
Father Kundakçı, who stated that he received threat messages from abroad, said, "I received two threat messages yesterday. Both were from abroad, through a messaging application. We received some messages containing approaches like 'we killed your child, we won't let him rest in his grave, we won't give you peace' regarding not pursuing this matter. A voice call comes from the same message. Even if the reality of these messages is only 1%, I took it seriously. I will also report this to the security forces. If I am going to receive threats regarding this matter, my son is dead, I am already dead. I have no fear or concern about anything, we are giving a life, but this matter will not be closed. Even if it costs me my life, I will pursue this issue," he stated.
8 SUSPECTS ARRESTED
Police teams initiated a search to capture the suspects who fled after the incident, and detained A.K. (28), M.R. (52), H.C.A. (25), M.K. (59), E.T. (63), A.Ö. (46), A.T. (28), and Z.K. (50). Additionally, the murder weapon was also seized during the operation.
IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE SUSPECTS FIRED AT THE VEHICLE
Investigations revealed that Kaan Kundakçı, who lost his life in the incident, and two others were sitting in a parked vehicle when two different vehicles arrived at the scene, and one of the suspects who got out of these vehicles fired at the vehicle where Kundakçı was located and fled.
