1.5-YEAR CONTRACT WITH LEVENT ŞAHİN
After parting ways with Metin Diyadin following the Çaykur Rizespor match, the capital team signed a 1.5-year contract with Levent Şahin.
‘WE WISH HIM SUCCESS IN HIS NEW ROLE’
In a statement from the red-black team, it was said, "Our club has reached an agreement with Levent Şahin, who knows our community closely, for 1.5 years with his experience and vision on the way to our goals for the professional football A team head coach position. We welcome our head coach Levent Şahin and his team and wish them success in their new roles."
FOURTH COACH OF THE SEASON
Levent Şahin became the 4th head coach to serve at Gençlerbirliği this season. The capital representative was managed by Hüseyin Eroğlu and Volkan Demirel, in addition to Metin Diyadin this season.
PLACES HE HAS WORKED
Levent Şahin, who served as an assistant coach for a significant part of his career, will take on the head coach role in the Super League for the second time. The 52-year-old Şahin had managed Adanaspor in the Super League during the second half of the 2016-17 season. Şahin was the assistant to head coach Samet Aybaba during the 2008-09 season when Gençlerbirliği narrowly stayed in the Super League. Most recently, Şahin was part of Fatih Terim's team at Al Shabab in Saudi Arabia last year, and he has also served as an assistant coach at Galatasaray and the Turkish National Football Team during his career.
