The penalty for not installing winter tires will be updated as of January 1, 2025, in accordance with the revaluation rate announced by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance.
The cost of tire mounting and dismounting is 600 lira for 13 and 14-inch rims, 750 lira for 15 and 16-inch rims, 850 lira for 17-inch rims, 950 lira for 18-inch rims, 1,100 lira for 19-inch rims, and 1,250 lira for 20 and 21-inch rims. The fee for tire storage is charged at the level of the replacement fee for 4 tires.

The President of the Motor Vehicle Dealers Federation (MASFED), Aydın Erkoç, stated to AA correspondent that changing tires is of great importance for safe traffic flow and preventing traffic accidents. Erkoç noted that tires are among the primary factors causing accidents in vehicles and emphasized that the tires used must be suitable for the season.
Erkoç said, "When the air temperature drops to 7 degrees and below, it is time to install winter tires. The cause of traffic accidents that occur in winter is mostly the use of tires that are not suitable for the season. Because summer tires lose grip in cold weather, on snowy and icy surfaces, leading to skidding during braking, spinning, and loss of control."
"WHEN BUYING TIRES, ALWAYS CHECK THE DATE"
Emphasizing that the obligation of winter tire application is of vital importance beyond just a requirement, Erkoç stated, "Drivers must comply with this rule and change their tires as soon as possible for the safety of themselves and other drivers and passengers." He warned drivers to make this change before December 1 and highlighted the importance of conscious tire purchasing as much as installing winter tires.
Erkoç pointed out that citizens must pay attention to the lifespan of tires, stating, "When buying tires, it is essential to check the date. Because even if the tire has not been used, it has a certain shelf life. Tires that have been stored lose their properties and do not balance." Aydın Erkoç added that it is necessary to be prepared for harsh winter conditions, emphasizing the importance of vehicle maintenance in addition to tire changes.
