WHO IS FERİT EDGÜ?

Ferit Edgü was born on February 24, 1936, in Istanbul. He studied at the Department of Painting at Istanbul Fine Arts Academy and continued his education in Paris. Between 1976 and 1990, he published the works of contemporary Turkish and world writers and poets at Ada Publications, which he founded.

The master writer, who has works in many genres of literature such as poetry, stories, novels, plays, essays, biographies, and critiques, received the 1979 Sait Faik Award with his book "On a Ship," the 1979 Turkish Language Association Award with "Lecture Notes," and the 1988 Sedat Simavi Literature Award with "A Summer in the Shadow of September." The film adaptation of his novel "A Season in Hakkari," directed by Erden Kural, won 5 awards at the 33rd Berlin Film Festival, including the Silver Bear. His novels, stories, and essays have been translated into many languages, including Japanese and Chinese.
