The master of Turkish cinema, director, producer, and screenwriter Ali Özgentürk, who passed away in Istanbul, was laid to rest after a ceremony held in his hometown of Adana.
The ceremony was held for Ali Özgentürk, a director, producer, and screenwriter who passed away at the age of 80 in Istanbul, known for numerous films such as 'Selvi Boylum Al Yazmalım', 'Hazal', 'At', and 'Balkaya', at the Adana Metropolitan Municipality Theater Hall where he first took the stage at the age of 16.
Adana Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeydan Karalar, Seyhan Municipality Mayor Oya Tekin, CHP Adana MPs Ayhan Barut, Müzeyyen Şevkin, documentary filmmaker-journalist brother Nebil Özgentürk, family, artist friends, and fans attended the ceremony. As Özgentürk's coffin was brought into the hall, it was met with applause, and his artist friends commemorated the master director with speeches.
"ART LIFE BEGAN IN THIS HALL"
Nebil Özgentürk, who explained that he was the brother who spent the most time with his older brother due to their similar professions, said, "'We are going from one darkness to another,' my brother Yaşar Kemal used to say. My brother's artistic life began in this theater, and it seems to end here. He played games here with Nejat Uygur when he was 16-17 years old. Nejat Uygur loved and supported young people very much, and my brother loved him a lot. My brother also loved Adana to the utmost," he said.
His daughter Simay Özgentürk tearfully shared how much she loved her father and placed a red carnation on his coffin. After the ceremony, Ali Özgentürk's body was laid to rest at Akkapı Cemetery.
