The cold air wave affecting Turkey is giving way to spring temperatures. While temperatures rise by up to 4 degrees, heavy showers are expected in many provinces over the weekend.

The cold weather wave that was effective in the first days of May has begun to leave Turkey. According to the latest assessments of the General Directorate of Meteorology, air temperatures across the country will increase by 2 to 4 degrees as of today. As the spring weather becomes more influential, temperatures will gradually rise throughout the week in many cities.

RAIN CONTINUES IN SOME REGIONS

Today, precipitation is expected especially in the Taurus Mountains section of the Mediterranean, the inner parts of the Eastern Black Sea, Eastern Anatolia, and the east of Southeastern Anatolia. Additionally, occasional showers will be seen around Rize, Tokat, and Adıyaman.

TEMPERATURES TO RISE IN ISTANBUL AND ANKARA

According to meteorological data, the air temperature today will be 22 degrees in Istanbul and 18 degrees in Ankara. With temperatures continuing to rise throughout the week, thermometers are expected to show 25 degrees in Istanbul and 23 degrees in Ankara.

HEAVY RAIN WARNING FOR THE WEEKEND

The spring weather will be short-lived. The Meteorology announced that a new rainy weather system will become effective starting from the weekend, beginning from the western provinces. On Saturday, heavy thunderstorms are expected in 25 provinces, including Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir.
