According to the latest statement from the Mint, the production of certain coins has been halted. As of January 2025, coins with denominations of 1 kuruş, 5 kuruş, 10 kuruş, and 25 kuruş will not be put into circulation.
Due to high inflation, the purchasing power of the Turkish lira has been affected, which in turn impacted the production of money. According to the data from the General Directorate of the Mint and Stamp Printing House of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, no coins of 1 kuruş, 5 kuruş, 10 kuruş, and 25 kuruş were put into circulation in January.
50 KURUŞ AND 1 TL WERE PRINTED
In January 2025, a total of 84 thousand 50 kuruş coins, 45 million 492 thousand 1 TL coins, and 16 million 853 thousand 5 TL coins were released into the market, amounting to a total of 62 million 429 thousand coins.
Thus, the amount of 5 TL in circulation reached 201 million 262 thousand 807 coins, 1 TL reached 4 billion 354 million 747 thousand 610 coins, and 50 kuruş reached 1 billion 585 million 417 thousand 950 coins.
The total amount of coins in circulation was 13 billion 142 million 154 thousand 976 coins.
