A rhesus macaque monkey, which was being fed without permission at a workplace in Kadıköy, Istanbul, escaped and climbed onto the roofs of the buildings. Teams that were alerted by the neighborhood took action, captured the monkey that was roaming on the balconies, and placed it under protection, while also imposing a penalty on the owner of the workplace.
A rhesus macaque, which is among the prohibited species, escaped from the workplace where it was kept in the Fikirtepe neighborhood of Kadıköy district in Istanbul and began to roam on the roofs and balconies of nearby buildings.
PROTECTED
Upon receiving reports from citizens who noticed the situation, police and relevant teams were dispatched to the area. As a result of the work carried out by the teams, the macaque was captured at the place it was hiding and taken under protection. An administrative action was taken against the person who was found to have kept the monkey at the workplace without permission.
HEALTH STATUS GOOD
The General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks announced via its social media account that the health status of the animal is good.
