Approximately 300 people in Uganda's Bundibugyo region have been reported to be affected by a mysterious illness locally referred to as "Dinga Dinga." This condition, which primarily affects women and girls, is characterized by fever and severe body tremors, significantly impairing mobility. "THEY GENERALLY RECOVER WITHIN A WEEK"District Health Officer Dr. Kiyita Christopher stated that the illness is currently being treated with antibiotics provided by community health teams, and no fatalities have been reported so far. "There is no scientific evidence that herbal medicine can cure this illness. We are using specific treatments, and patients generally recover within a week. I urge the local population to seek treatment at health facilities in the area," he said. A similar recent event was the "Dancing Plague" that occurred in Strasbourg, France, in 1518. During this outbreak, people danced uncontrollably for days, sometimes resulting in deaths due to exhaustion.
