Abdullah Kestiren, who lived alone in abandoned buildings in Nevşehir, was reported missing by his relatives in January 2023, stating that they had not heard from him. Acting on the report, police teams conducted extensive search and rescue operations in the abandoned buildings and surrounding areas where they believed the individual was staying. Initially, no results were obtained from the operations, which also involved specially trained cadaver dogs and heavy machinery.

LAST IMAGES EMERGED

Expanding the search activities, the Homicide Bureau teams of the Nevşehir Police Department collected camera footage from security and businesses in the city. The teams, which examined approximately 500 hours of footage, reached images of Kestiren's last moments.

SKULL FOUND IN THE FIELD BELONGED TO THE MISSING MAN

In November 2023, the owner of an abandoned building reported to the police after seeing human skull bones and clothes in the garden of an abandoned building located on Şehit Asım Gökmen Street in Raşitbey Neighborhood. The teams that examined the scene sent the found skull, bones, and clothes to the Forensic Medicine Institution for DNA testing. Expanding their operations in the area, the teams initiated work to find other bone fragments. Despite searching the abandoned buildings and caves in the area one by one, no other bone fragments were found. Only clothes and a mobile phone belonging to Abdullah Kestiren were discovered during the searches in the area. The DNA analysis of the skull bones sent to the Forensic Medicine Institution confirmed that they belonged to Abdullah Kestiren, who went missing last January.

The police teams are now investigating the cause of Abdullah Kestiren's death.
