After it was revealed that the body found under the viaduct in Bayrampaşa belonged to prison escapee Mehmet Gür, the mystery surrounding the incident was unveiled. The murder suspect, Umut O., who has 15 criminal records, was taken into custody. Security cameras captured moments of the suspect wandering around the crime scene and checking the body a few days after killing his friend.
The curtain has been lifted on the incident regarding the lifeless body found under the viaduct on Paşa Street in the Kocatepe neighborhood of the Bayrampaşa district of Istanbul on February 10. It was determined that the body belonged to Mehmet Gür, a prison escapee with a confirmed 16-year prison sentence.
HAD BEEN GOING TO THE CRIME SCENE AT INTERVALS TO CHECK
In the initial examination by the police teams, it was found that the face of the corpse had been damaged. Following this, the Bayrampaşa District Police Department's Public Order teams expanded their investigations and examined the security cameras in the vicinity. As a result of the examinations, it was determined that a person had been wandering around the crime scene at intervals over several days. The identified suspect, Umut O., was quickly taken into custody. It was learned that the suspect, who has 15 criminal records, confessed to the murder.
KILLED AND THROWN INTO A GREEN AREA
Security sources determined that Umut O. had previously killed Mehmet Gür and left him in a green area. It was established that murder suspect Umut O. had wandered around the crime scene multiple times and checked it.
WAS REFERRED TO THE COURT
It was learned that murder suspect Umut O. was referred to the court after his procedures at the police station.
