This valuable person, who has been a companion to Apo for 12 years, called on everyone to work together to achieve the goals of peace and a democratic society."
HE WAS AT THE FOREFRONT OF THE TERROR-FREE TURKEY PROCESS
Sırrı Süreyya Önder, who was arrested on December 6, 2018, after the resolution process and released on October 4, 2019, later became the 28th Term Istanbul Deputy from the DEM Party in the 2023 general elections. He was one of the most important actors in the Terror-Free Turkey process. He was part of the delegation that went to Imralı and was the first to speak at the press conference where Öcalan's call to dissolve the terrorist organization PKK was read. He was received by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at Beştepe. Next was a visit from Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç. However, Önder passed away at the age of 62 before they could meet.
In the letter read by Önder's daughter at the funeral ceremony, it was revealed how much Sırrı Süreyya Önder valued the process. It was expressed that Önder told his daughter, "We will sign the peace protocol in two weeks, then we will be at ease."
