Adrien Brody was criticized for a 'disgusting' act while winning his second Best Actor Oscar at the 2025 ceremony held on Sunday.
The 51-year-old actor, who won the award for the film "The Brutalist," experienced emotional moments when his name was announced, surpassing nominees like Timothee Chalamet, Colman Domingo, Sebastian Stan, and Ralph Fiennes.
However, as the artist climbed the stairs to the stage, he turned around, took out his chewing gum, and threw it at his girlfriend and Harvey Weinstein's ex-wife, 48-year-old Georgina Chapman - an act that caused disgust among the audience.
Chapman was seen running to her partner and carefully catching the gum, after which Brody gave his speech.
In his speech, he said: "Winning such an award marks a destination, and it is something my character mentions in the film. But for me, beyond the peak of a career, it is a chance for a new beginning, and I hope that in the next 20 years of my life, I will be lucky enough to have the opportunity to prove that I deserve such meaningful, important, and contemporary roles."
Thanking Chapman and the two children he shares with the imprisoned Weinstein, he said, "I know this is a ripple effect. Thank you for accepting me into your life," and revealed that the two young ones call him 'Popsie.'
