MARITIME TRANSPORTATION STOPPED
Due to the strike, maritime transportation has stopped. In the capital Athens, public transport vehicles went on strike, operating only during certain hours. During the protest, workers and civil servants gathered in the center of Athens.
THEY PROTESTED THE LEGAL REGULATION
Protesters marching to the parliament building in Syntagma Square protested the government's planned legal regulation that would allow for 37 days and 13 hours of work per year.
THEY CHANTED "FREEDOM FOR PALESTINE"
Protesters, who want the current daily 8-hour work limit not to be increased, chanted "Freedom for Palestine" while holding Palestinian flags. Palestinian trade unionist Suzan Tayseer Salam also addressed the protesters.
Salam, noting that the importance of global solidarity is much better understood in Palestine under Israeli occupation, said, "I bring you the greetings of Palestinian workers." The protesters responded to Salam with chants of "Freedom for Palestine."
