With the signature of President Erdoğan, Senior Colonel Gülden Mat Şakir, the Commander of the Çankırı Provincial Gendarmerie, was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General by the decree numbered 2025/293 published in the Official Gazette dated July 30, 2025.
With the signature of President Erdoğan, the appointment decisions for the General Command of Gendarmerie and the Coast Guard Command, as well as the promotions to a higher rank, were published in the Official Gazette.
In the Gendarmerie, 21 individuals were promoted to a higher rank in accordance with Articles 10 and 11 of the Presidential Decree No. 3, with 21 generals and colonels affiliated with the General Command of Gendarmerie being promoted to a higher rank.
HE WAS THE FIRST PROVINCIAL GENDARMERIE COMMANDER
By achieving a first in Turkish Gendarmerie history, Gendarmerie Senior Colonel Gülden Mat Şakir, who was the Provincial Gendarmerie Commander of Çankırı, was promoted to brigadier general. Şakir, who is included in the promotion list published in the Official Gazette with the Presidential Decision dated July 30, 2025, and numbered 2025/293, had her rank elevated effective from August 30, 2025. With the decision published in the Official Gazette, Gülden Mat Şakir was appointed to the position of Head of the Personnel Center Department of the General Command of Gendarmerie.
SHE WAS THE FIRST WOMAN APPOINTED AS PROVINCIAL GENDARMERIE COMMANDER
Gülden Mat Şakir was appointed as the Provincial Gendarmerie Commander of Çankırı with the Presidential Decree No. 2024/275 published in the Official Gazette dated August 16, 2024. This appointment represented a first in the Turkish Gendarmerie organization. Şakir made history as the first female officer to be appointed to the position of provincial gendarmerie commander.
