The report noted that rescue operations are ongoing in the regions of Nur Gul, Savki, Chapa Dara, and Manogi, which were most affected by the earthquake in Kunar province.

The US Geological Survey (USGS) announced that a 6 magnitude earthquake occurred on August 31, 27 kilometers northeast of Jalalabad, near the Pakistan border, at a depth of 8 kilometers.
Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the interim Afghan government, stated that the number of fatalities from the earthquake has risen to 1,411, and the number of injured has reached 3,124.
Local officials have stated that this is one of the most severe earthquakes to hit the country.
