The seat distribution of the 28th term members of parliament in the Turkish Grand National Assembly has been updated again, following the resignation of three MPs from their parties and one MP joining the New Path Party. The number of MPs for the İYİ Party decreased to 27, and for the CHP to 44, while the number of independent MPs became 13. The New Path Party has also regained the capability to form a group with 20 MPs.

The "28th Term Members of Parliament Seat Distribution" section on the Grand National Assembly of Turkey's (TBMM) website has been updated.

3 DEPUTIES RESIGNED FROM THEIR PARTIES

Izmir Deputy Mustafa Bilici resigned from the New Path Party, while Gaziantep Deputy Mehmet Mustafa Gürban and Aydın Deputy Ömer Karakaş resigned from the İYİ Party.

NEW PATH PARTY FORMED A GROUP AGAIN

Following Bilici's resignation, the New Path Party lost the required 20 deputies to form a group in the TBMM, dropping to 19 deputies. With the participation of Kütahya Deputy Ali Fazıl Kasap, who resigned from the CHP, the New Path Party regained the qualification to form a group.

After the update, the number of deputies for the İYİ Party decreased to 27, the number for the CHP decreased to 44, while the number of independent deputies increased to 13.

TOTAL NUMBER OF DEPUTIES HAD DECREASED FROM 600 TO 592 

The total number of deputies in the TBMM had decreased from 600 to 592 due to the deaths of Saadet Party Kocaeli Deputy Hasan Bitmez and DEM Party Istanbul Deputy Sırrı Süreyya Önder, the loss of parliamentary status of Turkey Workers' Party Hatay Deputy Şerafettin Can Atalay, and the resignations of AK Party Istanbul Deputy Murat Kurum, who was appointed as the Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, and CHP deputies Burcu Köksal, Abdurrahman Tutdere, Hasan Baltacı, and Ahmet Önal, who were elected as mayors in their electoral districts.

The new seat distribution in the TBMM by parties is as follows:

  • New Party: 91
  • Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party: 56
  • Nationalist Movement Party: 46
  • Republican People's Party: 44
  • İYİ Party: 27
