The suspects, who came from Bangladesh to Turkey for a kidney transplant and identified themselves as "aunt and nephew," were caught attempting illegal organ transplantation in Istanbul. Instead of a doctor, the suspects were confronted by the police at a private hospital in Şişli where they were waiting for surgery.

A 65-year-old kidney patient living in Bangladesh was brought to Turkey for a transplant after making an agreement with a gang in her country. After finding a suitable donor, the transplant was planned to be performed in Istanbul.

ETHICS COMMITTEE INTERVENED

It was learned that the suspects who applied to a private hospital in Şişli presented fake documents showing that they were aunt and nephew. However, due to the contradictory answers given to the questions posed by the hospital's Ethics Committee, the situation was deemed suspicious and the alleged familial relationship was uncovered.

INSTEAD OF A DOCTOR, THE POLICE SHOWED UP

Following a tip-off from the hospital management, the Istanbul Human Smuggling and Trafficking teams sprang into action. The suspects were called back to the hospital. While the elderly woman thought she was going to be taken for surgery, she was confronted by the police instead of her doctor.

According to the news from Tugay Saday of Star Haber; in the operation, the kidney patient woman, the person considered to be the intermediary, and the donor introduced as "nephew" were taken into custody. It was determined that the suspects had agreed to the illegal transplant for 5,500 dollars (approximately 237,000 TL).

THEY WERE DEPORTED

After the procedures at the police station, the suspects were referred to the courthouse and were released under judicial control by the court. It was reported that the suspects were later deported.
