While U.S. President Donald Trump's insistence on acquiring Greenland continues, Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen made a statement following discussions with the U.S. Rasmussen said, "We share some of Trump's concerns regarding Greenland. There is definitely a new security situation in the Arctic."

MEETING BETWEEN DENMARK AND THE US ON "GREENLAND"
While President Donald Trump frequently states that they will acquire Greenland, a striking meeting took place on the subject. Lars Lokke Rasmussen, the Danish Foreign Minister, who is autonomously connected to Greenland, held discussions with the US. In his statement after the meeting, Rasmussen said that they somewhat agreed with Trump.

Rasmussen expressed, "We share Trump's concerns regarding Greenland to some extent. There is definitely a new security situation in the Arctic."
TRUMP'S GREENLAND ASPIRATIONS
In a social media post today, President Trump suggested that if his country acquires Greenland, NATO would be stronger and more effective.
Trump had previously stated in response to questions about Greenland, "If we don't acquire Greenland, Russia or China will. As long as I am president, this will not happen. Military presence is not enough. You need to own the property." Noting that submarines and other warships from China and Russia have been present around Greenland, Trump said they would not allow this and that they would "somehow acquire Greenland."
Greenland, an autonomous region of Denmark, had previously rejected approaches from the US that included the transfer of sovereignty.
