The Fenerbahçe management held an extraordinary meeting after the Göztepe match to discuss the poor run of form and the choice of head coach. FENERBAHÇE MANAGEMENT AGREED ON CONCEIÇÃO
According to HT Spor's report, Fenerbahçe management reached an agreement on the name Sergio Conceiçao for the new head coach. It was reported that the Portuguese coach has been invited to Istanbul and is expected to come to Turkey within a short time. While no official statement has yet been made by the yellow-navy club, the development regarding Conceiçao showed that a new phase has been reached in the head coach search.
JORGE JESUS HAD RECOMMENDED HIM
It had previously been claimed that Fenerbahçe's former head coach Jorge Jesus also gave a positive reference about Sergio Conceiçao. It was reported that the Fenerbahçe Football Committee, which was stated to have contacted Jorge Jesus as part of the head coach search, received the Portuguese coach's opinion about his compatriot Conceiçao. It was stated that Jesus recommended Conceiçao to the yellow-navy management, using the words, "I see my youth in him."

It had been claimed that a disagreement occurred regarding the head coach candidates at a board meeting said to have been held previously at Fenerbahçe. It was reported that 8 executives wanted Aykut Kocaman at the meeting, while 5 executives made their choice in favor of a foreign head coach.
While it was stated that the priority candidate of the executives who wanted a foreign head coach was Sergio Conceiçao, it was also expressed that Emre Belözoğlu was among the candidates.
