POWERBANK FELL BETWEEN THE SEATS
A passenger on the 'Boeing 777' aircraft, which was in flight over Kazakhstan, dropped their power bank (portable charger) between the seats. Unable to retrieve the device, the passenger reported the situation to the cabin crew on duty. However, the cabin crew also could not manage to remove the power bank from its location.
PILOT DECIDED TO RETURN TO ISTANBUL
Upon the situation, the captain of the aircraft decided to return to Istanbul to avoid any negative incidents due to the power bank, which is prohibited during the flight. The plane landed safely at Istanbul Airport at 23:25.
IT WAS RECOMMENDED TO BE BANNED
A fire had broken out on the aircraft, which had 170 passengers and 6 crew members, due to the explosion of a power bank in South Korea. Following these incidents, the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (SHGM) advised airlines to prohibit the use of portable chargers known as power banks during flights.
