The Ministry of Trade has redefined the customs duty on lemon imports, reducing it from 54% to 10% in order to meet consumer needs at an affordable price. This regulation will be valid until July 31 for lemons priced over 100 lira at the market. To protect domestic producers, a customs duty of 54% will be applied starting from August 1. The Presidential Decision on this matter has been published in the Official Gazette and has come into effect.

In order to meet consumer demand for lemons at an affordable price, the customs duty applied to imports has been rearranged to 10% and will be valid until July 31, taking into account the production, supply-demand balance, price movements, and foreign trade data of the product. The Presidential Decision on the matter has been published in the Official Gazette and has come into effect.

MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE AND FORESTRY HAS TAKEN ACTION

In a statement made by the Ministry of Trade, it was emphasized that the Ministry is using all the tools of trade policies in coordination with relevant institutions and organizations, primarily the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, to ensure supply security for basic food products, to properly guide the markets to prevent speculative price increases, and to jointly protect the welfare of producers and consumers.

TAX REDUCTION ON LEMON IMPORTS

The statement included the following expressions: "In this context, in order to ensure that consumer demand for lemons is met at an affordable price, the customs duty applied to imports has been rearranged to 10% and will be valid until July 31, taking into account the production, supply-demand balance, price movements, and foreign trade data of the mentioned product. On the other hand, in order to protect domestic producers, the customs duty of 54%, which is the highest level of our international commitments, will continue to be applied for imports to be made starting from August 1, considering the harvest period of lemons. Our Ministry will continue to closely monitor domestic and foreign markets to ensure supply security and price stability for food products and to take all necessary measures to prevent speculative price movements while protecting both producers and consumers."
