In the Gezi Park case, manager Ayşe Barım, who was tried on the charge of "aiding an attempt to overthrow the Government of the Republic of Turkey," has been released from the prison where she has been held since January 27, under judicial control and house arrest conditions. However, the prosecution has appealed this decision. The 26th Heavy Penal Court, which resisted the release decision, has sent the case file to the 27th Heavy Penal Court.
Manager Ayşe Barım, who is on trial for allegedly being one of the planners of the Gezi Park events in Taksim, appeared before the judge for the second time on charges of "aiding and abetting an attempt to overthrow the Government of the Republic of Turkey."
RELEASE WITH HOUSE ARREST AND TRAVEL BAN
In the hearing held yesterday regarding Barım, who is facing up to 30 years in prison, the court panel decided to release her under judicial control and house arrest conditions. Barım, who has been in custody since January 27, was released from prison last night with travel restrictions and house arrest measures.
PROSECUTION APPEAL
Following the court's decision, today the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office appealed the release decision and brought the case to a higher court.
SENT TO HIGHER COURT
The Istanbul 26th Heavy Criminal Court, which released Barım, defended that its release decision was justified and resisted this decision. The case was sent to the Istanbul 27th Heavy Criminal Court for the evaluation of the appeal.
