The true cause of the legendary martial artist Bruce Lee's death has emerged years later. Official statements cited brain edema, but experts believe that Lee died in 1973 due to an epileptic seizure (SUDEP). This information was kept hidden for 50 years to protect his superhero image.
Taiwanese actress Betty Ting has made a detailed statement for the first time after remaining silent for 50 years about the night of martial arts legend Bruce Lee's death. The famous actress recounted that evening in 1973 when Bruce Lee passed away in his apartment in Hong Kong during a program on TVB.
"HE INITIATED THE RELATIONSHIP"
Betty Ting stated that she met Bruce Lee in 1970. She mentioned that Lee, who was married and had children at the time, initiated an emotional closeness with her, saying, "The whole world loved him; it would be strange if I didn't love him." Ting also expressed her admiration for Lee's honesty and candor.
Ting said that the two quickly became inseparable, sharing that during the filming of "The Way of the Dragon," she accompanied Lee on everything from choosing outfits to hairstyling, and that the crew nicknamed her "Little Dragon Girl."
"HE HAD A HEADACHE; I GAVE HIM PAIN RELIEVERS"
Ting recounted the events of July 20, 1973, the day Bruce Lee passed away, with the following words:
"He came to my house around 5 PM. He said he had a headache around 7 PM. I gave him a pain reliever, and he lay down to rest. We had a meeting with producer Raymond Chow that night."
However, Lee did not wake up. When Raymond Chow arrived at Ting's house around 9:45 PM and could not wake him, Ting's personal doctor was called in. An ambulance was called at 10 PM. Bruce Lee was taken to the hospital but could not be saved.
THEIR RELATIONSHIP WAS EXPOSED, A MEDIA STORM BEGAN
Once it was understood that the ambulance had left from Betty Ting's house, the couple's secret relationship was revealed. This situation led to a major media crisis at the time. Ting confessed that, under Chow's guidance and at the request of Lee's family, she had kept both the relationship and the truths about that night hidden for a while.
"I was 26 at the time, and the man whom millions admired died in my bed. I suddenly became an enemy in the public eye," said Ting, speaking so openly for the first time after many years.
MEDICAL TRUTHS WERE HIDDEN FOR YEARS
The cause of death for Bruce Lee, who passed away at the age of 32 in 1973, has been officially recorded as "acute cerebral edema" to this day. However, new research conducted in the TVB documentary program "Ctrl+F The Truth" revealed that Lee actually suffered an epileptic seizure (crisis) and died as a result. Experts speaking in the production and individuals close to Bruce Lee provided statements supporting this new claim. It was noted that the true cause of death was deliberately concealed for decades to protect the image of the "invincible superhero" that was created around Bruce Lee, who was born in San Francisco and had Hong Kong roots.
