The tolls for bridges, highways, and tunnels have increased. The tolls for the 15 July Martyrs Bridge and the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge in Istanbul, as well as the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, have been raised.
The General Directorate of Highways (KGM) has determined the new toll rates for the bridges in Istanbul. The toll for the 15 July Martyrs Bridge and the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge has increased from 33 lira to 47 lira. This increase corresponds to a 42% rise. The toll for the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge has gone up from 70 lira to 80 lira.
RECORD INCREASE IN MAJOR BRIDGES
The toll for the Osmangazi Bridge, one of Turkey's largest bridges, has risen from 555 lira to 795 lira. This increase means a 42.3% rise. A similar increase has been observed at the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge. The toll for the Çanakkale Bridge has increased from 585 lira to 790 lira. These two bridges have become the bridges with the highest tolls in Turkey. Passengers traveling from Istanbul to Izmir will pay 795 lira just for the bridge toll, in addition to the highway fee.
The famous singer wrote in her post: "The increases in bridge, road, and transportation fees should be in line with the rate of the minimum wage increase! These hikes will immediately reflect on everything, especially supermarkets, putting the public in an even more difficult situation. Please abandon these increases; people cannot make ends meet!"
