In the Champions League semi-final match between Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain, referee Slavko Vincic drew criticism for his decisions. Vincic, who had previously officiated the Galatasaray - Fenerbahçe derby, was also heavily criticized by Okan Buruk.
In the first leg of the Champions League semi-final, Arsenal faced Paris Saint-Germain at the Emirates Stadium. The visiting team won the match with a goal from Ousmane Dembele in the fourth minute.
On the other hand, Arsenal's one goal was disallowed after a VAR check due to offside. The match was officiated by Slavko Vincic, who had previously officiated the Galatasaray-Fenerbahçe derby at RAMS Park. There were intense objections from both sides towards the Slovenian referee and the VAR team.
"HE MADE A GOOD MATCH DIFFICULT"
One of the legends of English football, Alan Shearer, criticized Vincic, stating, "I think the referee made a very good match very difficult for himself with the way he spoke to the players and his attitude. It was really frustrating for the players, really. I wasn't affected by his performance. I thought he wanted to be the star of the show instead of allowing the flow of the game."
OKAN BURUK HAD HEAVY CRITICISM
Referee Slavko Vincic also drew the reaction of Technical Director Okan Buruk after the Galatasaray - Fenerbahçe derby. The successful coach commented on Vincic after the derby, saying, "Even the referee who officiated the Champions League Final was trembling. His hand went to his mouth three times. He made very bad fouls. Mert's hand was there; he almost played volleyball. He didn't listen to the fourth official because he was Turkish... This is disrespectful. After the match, I told him that he performed worse than Turkish referees. He was tense before the match. If a foreign referee is in this condition, think about the players. The match was incredibly stopped; he constantly called fouls. I am unhappy with the referee's performance.
