On the night of March 1st, a brutal incident occurred on Ali Çetinkaya Street in the Yüksekalan neighborhood of the Muratpaşa district in Antalya. Paramedic Hamit Aras (30), who was on duty at the Muratpaşa 5th Emergency Medical Services Station, set out for home after having sahur with a friend on the first day of Ramadan, despite his friend's insistence that he stay over. After getting out of the commercial taxi he was in and starting to walk home, one of four young men aged between 17 and 20 approached Aras and asked him for a cigarette.
"I DON'T HAVE A CIGARETTE" HE SAID AND WAS KILLED BY ASSAULT
Continuing on his way, Hamit Aras told the young men, "I don't have a cigarette, I don't smoke." Four people who followed him attacked one young paramedic, while another took his bag. After being knocked down by a punch and hitting his head on the pavement, two of the young men ran away from the scene. A few streets away, after taking the valuables from the bag, the suspects attempted to destroy the bag by burning it, while two of them returned after a while. Hamit Aras, who was taken to the hospital after the first intervention by the 112 Emergency Medical teams at the scene, passed away two days ago after a three-day struggle for life.
SUSPECTS ARRESTED
The suspects, İsmail S. (16), Gökhan A. (17), Savaş İ. and Muhammet E. K., were quickly apprehended by the teams of the Homicide Bureau of the Public Order Branch Directorate. After their procedures at the police station, Muhammet E. K. and Savaş İ. were arrested and sent to prison, while İsmail S. and Gökhan A. were released under judicial control.
LAST MOMENTS REVEALED
Security camera footage from seconds before the incident involving the paramedic emerged. The footage showed one of the young men sitting by the roadside approaching Hamit Aras, who was walking on the pavement, then talking to him, and after a while, the other young men also went to Aras. The security camera captured the young men following Hamit Aras after they spoke and he continued on his way.
2 YOUNG MEN TURNED BACK TO HELP
In the continuation of the footage, it was observed that Hamit Aras and the four young men went out of the view of the security camera, and after a while, two suspects ran away from the scene while the other two walked away. Meanwhile, it was also captured on video that İsmail S. and Gökhan A., who were released under judicial control, returned a few minutes later to check on Hamit Aras's condition, and they called the 112 Emergency Call Center for help. Additionally, it was learned that the two young men who called for help waited by Hamit Aras's side until the medical teams arrived at the scene.
COLLEAGUES IN TEARS
Hamit Aras, the 112 Emergency Medical personnel who lost his life at a young age, was buried in the Kınık neighborhood of Kaş amid the tears of his colleagues after a ceremony held yesterday at the Antalya Provincial Ambulance Service Chief's Office of the Ministry of Health.
THE CRY OF THE GRIEVING MOTHER BROKE HEARTS
Grieving mother Şükriye Tavşan, who lost her husband to cancer and then her only son within two months, lamented at her son Hamit Aras's grave. Tavşan's words, "The killers took my child away. He was my only child, he left me alone. Give the killers their punishment. My child was my only child, I could never harm him," broke hearts. Aras's aunt, Rukiye Kocakahya, said, "Our hearts are broken, we want them to pay for their crimes. Our young child is gone. We do not want this matter to be left unresolved."
