Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that C.R., who had been wanted for 16 years in connection with the murder of police officer Nihat Karakoca in Şanlıurfa, was captured last week during an operation at the house where he was hiding.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced on his official X account that the suspect who martyred Nihat Karakoca in Şanlıurfa has been captured.

CAUGHT AFTER 16 YEARS

In his statement, Minister Yerlikaya said: "In coordination with the Şanlıurfa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office; as a result of the meticulous work carried out by our Şanlıurfa Provincial Gendarmerie Command's Gendarmerie Crime Investigation Team (JASAT); the suspect C.R., who has been wanted for 16 years as the perpetrator of the armed conflict that occurred on June 13, 2009, in the Siverek district of Şanlıurfa, where Police Officer Nihat Karakoca was martyred, 1 citizen lost their life, and 2 citizens were injured, was captured in the house where he was hiding in the Karaköprü district of Şanlıurfa by our heroic Gendarmerie."
