It was reminded in the statement that Veysi Aktaş, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for "attempting to separate part of the territory under the sovereignty of the state from the administration of the state" (Article 125 of the Turkish Penal Code), entered the penal institution on May 11, 1994, and was transferred to the Imralı F-Type High Security Closed Prison on March 17, 2015. "The convict serving a life sentence in the Imralı F-Type High Security Closed Prison had his good conduct assessment rejected three times by the administration and monitoring board, despite the expiration of the 30-year conditional release period.
