The proposal for the annexation of illegal Jewish settlements seized from Palestinian territories in the occupied West Bank was accepted by a majority vote in the preliminary voting in the Israeli Parliament.

ISRAELI PARLIAMENT APPROVES "WEST BANK" BILL

The Israeli Parliament has approved a bill that envisions the annexation of illegal Jewish settlers in the occupied West Bank. According to reports in the Israeli press, 24 members of the Israeli parliament voted "no" while 25 members voted "yes" in the preliminary voting on the bill.

"HAS SYMBOLIC SIGNIFICANCE"

The bill presented by Avi Maoz from the Noam Party will allow the voting on the annexation of illegal Jewish settlements seized from Palestinian territories in the occupied West Bank in the Israeli parliament. Although the bill has not yet had any reflection on the ground, it holds symbolic significance.

THREE MORE VOTES TO BE HELD IN PARLIAMENT

The bill, which received "yes" votes from 25 members of parliament, needs to pass three more votes in the Knesset to become law. On the other hand, a proposal for the annexation of the Maale Adumim settlement, established by seizing Palestinian lands in the occupied West Bank, presented by the leader of the Our Home Israel Party, Avigdor Liberman, was also voted on.

This proposal also passed in the preliminary voting with 32 votes in favor and 9 against, paving the way for a vote in the Knesset.

ISRAELI FAR-RIGHT SATISFIED

The acceptance of the symbolic bill in the Knesset pleased the far-right ministers in the coalition government. Far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich called for the complete annexation of the West Bank in a written statement on the social media account of American company X. National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir also expressed his desire for the annexation of the West Bank, similar to Smotrich.

THE BILL CAME DURING THE VISIT OF US OFFICIALS TO ISRAEL

The proposal for the annexation of Israeli settlements established by seizing Palestinian lands in the occupied West Bank drew attention as it came during the visit of US Vice President J. D. Vance, US President Donald Trump's Special Representative for the Middle East Steve Witkoff, and son-in-law Jared Kushner to Israel. The MP Maoz, who brought the bill to the Knesset, opposed Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's request not to bring the law at this time, stating that "it is the right time to emphasize Israel's sovereignty."

TRUMP HAD SAID ISRAEL WOULD NOT ANNEX THE WEST BANK

In the West Bank, which Israel occupied in 1967, more than 4 million Palestinians live under military administration due to the Israeli occupation. However, in more than 250 Jewish settlements built on land seized from Palestinians in violation of international law, about 600,000 Israeli settlers live according to Israeli laws.

Palestinians are trying to sustain their lives under conditions where their lands and agricultural areas have been seized by Israel and Jewish settlers, and attacks by settlers protected by the Israeli army are increasingly rising. In Israel, especially far-right and right-wing parties, supported by settlers, have long advocated for the illegal annexation of the occupied West Bank. Trump had stated that Israel would not annex the West Bank.
