The investigation against the leader of an armed criminal organization, Barış Boyun, who is imprisoned in Italy, has been completed. In the prepared 578-page indictment, 136 people were listed as "plaintiffs", 6 people as "plaintiff-suspects", and 305 people, including the defendant Barış Boyun as the leader of the organization, were listed as "suspects". The indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office demanded that Barış Boyun, who is the head of the organized crime organization, be sentenced to 4 life imprisonments and up to 349 years in prison.

The investigation into Barış Boyun, the leader of an armed criminal organization who is currently imprisoned in Italy, has been completed. The indictment, which includes 136 people, including Engin Polat, as "victims," states that the organization kills or recruits those who stand against them in order to become the country's largest criminal organization. The indictment requests a prison sentence of up to 349 years for Barış Boyun.



305 SUSPECTS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY



The investigation into the actions carried out by Barış Boyun through the organization has been completed. The 578-page indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office includes 8 "victims," 136 "victims," including Engin Polat and his brother Alper Kürşat Polat, 6 "victim-suspects," and 305 "suspects," including Barış Boyun, who is considered to be the leader of the organization.



According to the indictment, the suspect Barış Boyun established an armed criminal organization for profit and has an arrest warrant for this crime. It is stated that he gave instructions to the organization's leaders with the intention of committing crimes and that these instructions were conveyed to the members of the organization through the suspects Beratcan Gökdemir, Bahadır Akdağ, Zafer Boyun, Tolga Gültepe, and Bayram Demir, who are considered to be the leaders of the organization.



COUNTRY'S LARGEST CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION



The indictment states that the suspect organization leaders strengthened their dominance over their members by using the name of Barış Boyun and their intimidating power. It is mentioned that the aim of the organization is to gain unjust benefits from an unspecified number of people, and they do not hesitate to carry out any action to achieve their goals and become the country's largest criminal organization. It is stated that they either kill or recruit the individuals and groups standing against them in order to achieve their goals.



"349 YEARS OF IMPRISONMENT DEMANDED FOR BOYUN"



It is stated that Barış Boyun wrote three letters after being arrested in Italy and handed over his operations. According to the indictment, Barış Boyun fled to Italy due to the crimes he committed and lived there. It is stated that a request for extradition has been made for him, and although he is imprisoned in Italy, he continues to commit crimes through the organization. It is also mentioned that while he was in prison, he sent three letters to the members of the organization, instructing them to continue their activities without deviating from the words of the individuals to whom he handed over the operations, Gurur Işınçelik and Mert Gültepe, who is the brother of Tolga Gültepe, an organization leader who is also imprisoned in Italy.



"BOYUN WILL BOW DOWN FOR PEACE"



The indictment states that the members of the organization regularly share videos on social media in order to find supporters and appear sympathetic to people. It is mentioned that they use slogans such as "the ambassador of Istanbul, the ruler of the streets, Boyun will bow down for peace" to tag the organization's leaders and create black propaganda. It is stated that they influence especially young people who are prone to crime and encourage them to join the organization by exploiting their spirituality, especially by making numerous posts about sending aid trucks to disaster areas with the income they obtained from crime.



They are influenced by TV series that depict criminal organizations.



"RAISED WITH COMPUTER GAMES"



According to the indictment, the organization selects its members from young people aged between 15 and 20, who are raised with computer games and greatly influenced by internet-based series depicting street crime organizations. It is also mentioned that these young people are used as "Kamikaze Drones" within the country, starting as a small group within the organization and growing by acting as subcontractors and hitmen for other groups, eventually becoming a large armed criminal organization. It is stated that they write songs and shoot music videos for the organization's leader and on behalf of the organization in order to normalize their activities within society.



"THEY BENEFITED FROM THE ORGANIZATION'S POWER"



It is mentioned that attacks were carried out on the Polat brothers' workplaces. The indictment states that the organization uses drug production and trade as its financial income, and it includes actions against Engin Polat. According to the indictment, in October 2023, two individuals on motorcycles attacked Dilan Polat Beauty Center in Istanbul Ataşehir with long-barreled weapons, and in the same month, an individual with a helmet fired a gun at Engin Polat For Men, and it is stated that the attackers are members of the "Barış Boyun" armed criminal organization and are part of the armed action wing of the organization. It is also mentioned that an armed attack was carried out on the business owned by Alper Kürşat Polat, the brother of Engin Polat, as part of the organization's activities, and that they benefited from the organization's intimidating power.



"TO BE TRIED IN ISTANBUL HEAVY PENALTY COURT"



In the prepared indictment, it is requested that the leader of the organization, Barış Boyun, be sentenced to life imprisonment four times and 165 years and 10 months to 349 years in prison for crimes such as "establishing and leading an armed criminal organization with the intention of committing a crime," "causing bone fractures or dislocations and endangering life by using a firearm," "attempted premeditated murder," "intentional murder against four people," "deprivation of liberty by multiple people using firearms," "unlawful acquisition of personal data," "threatening using the intimidating power of the criminal organization," "damaging property," "looting and attempted looting with firearms and multiple people using the intimidating power of the criminal organization to benefit the organization," and "possession of an unlicensed firearm." It is also requested that the other suspects be punished with prison sentences ranging from 13 years to 349 years for similar crimes. The trial of the suspects will begin in the Istanbul Heavy Penalty Court in the coming days.
