In the incident that occurred on November 22 last year in the Kader Apartment in the Mustafa Kemal neighborhood of Sincan district, Tahsin Ünsür argued with his upstairs neighbor, whom he warned about the noise made by the children. Ünsür went upstairs with the shotgun he had at home and opened fire on Hamdi Turgut (41), his mother Behiye Turgut (71), his wife Sunay Turgut (40), his son Mustafa Turgut (13), and his daughter Ceyda Turgut (11). 5 people lost their lives, while the family's autistic son E.T. (5) escaped the attack unharmed. Tahsin Ünsür, who was taken into custody, was arrested by the court he was brought before.

In the indictment prepared by the Ankara West Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against Ünsür, it was stated that the defendant Ünsür was disturbed by the noise made by Mustafa Turgut (13) and Ceyda Turgut's (10) playing with their autistic sibling at home. It was recorded that on November 22, 2023, around 23:45, due to the noise coming from upstairs, the defendant Ünsür took a shotgun and 14-15 cartridges and went to his neighbors' door, entered, and opened fire on the family members. The prosecution requested separate life sentences for the 5 victims for the crimes of 'Intentional homicide', 'Intentional homicide against a child or a person who cannot defend themselves physically or mentally', and 'Intentional homicide against a woman'.

"IT IS THE COURT'S DISCRETION"

In the final hearing held at the Ankara West 4th High Criminal Court, the detained defendant Tahsin Ünsür and the lawyers of the parties were present. The presiding judge asked the detained defendant Ünsür for his last words. Ünsür said, "It is the court's discretion." The court announced that the defendant Tahsin Ünsür was sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of 'Intentional homicide of a child' against Mustafa Turgut and Ceyda Turgut. He was also given aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of 'Intentional homicide against a woman' for Sunay Turgut and Behiye Turgut. Additionally, he was sentenced to life imprisonment for the crime of 'Intentional homicide' against Hamdi Turgut. Ünsür was sentenced to a total of 5 life imprisonments, 4 of which were aggravated.
