The mystery of the foul smell that had been tormenting residents in Amasya has been solved. After complaints about heavy odors coming from an apartment in the Bahçeleriçi neighborhood, municipal and police teams intervened and removed a total of 1 ton of waste from the garbage-filled home. The apartment, which posed a threat to public health, was sealed off and legal proceedings have been initiated.
Acting on heavy odors spreading from an apartment in Amasya, teams removed approximately 1 ton of waste and garbage from the house they entered.
The incident occurred on Sebil Street in the central Bahçeleriçi neighborhood. Disturbed by the foul odors spreading from a ground-floor apartment in a building, local residents notified the authorities. Upon the report, health, police, Amasya Municipality Inspection Directorate, and Cleaning Affairs Directorate teams were dispatched to the address.
THREATENING PUBLIC HEALTH
During the inspection of the apartment, which teams entered wearing masks, it was determined that a completely unsanitary environment had formed due to household waste, old clothes, and unused items accumulated over a long period. Upon determining that the garbage piles posed a serious risk to both the environment and public health, legal proceedings were initiated in accordance with the decision of the Provincial General Health Board.
MUNICIPAL TEAMS CLEANED FOR HOURS
After obtaining the necessary permits, municipal cleaning workers carried out evacuation work under security measures. Approximately 1 ton of garbage accumulated in the rooms, along with unusable items and various waste materials, was carefully removed. Tons of waste loaded onto trucks were taken to the city landfill with hydraulic compacting garbage vehicles.
After the house was completely emptied, municipal teams carried out detailed disinfection and pest control work in the apartment against the risk of pests and epidemic diseases.
