In the Super League, after losing 1-0 to Samsunspor, Sivasspor's relegation was confirmed, and player Rey Manaj blamed head coach Rıza Çalımbay. In a statement regarding Çalımbay's press conference after the Bodrum FK match, Manaj said, "Sometimes the coach's personal ego should be set aside for the good of the team, but unfortunately, he always prioritized his ego over the team, and the results reflect that."
Rey Manaj from Sivasspor made a statement due to the remarks of head coach Rıza Çalımbay.
HE BLAMED RIZA ÇALIMBAY
Expressing his discontent towards Çalımbay, Manaj said, "I must say that I was really surprised by the press statement made by the coach after the Bodrum FK match, because I have never encountered a situation where a coach does not take responsibility and tries to blame the players. Despite having a groin problem for two months, I fought with everything I had in every match and did not shy away from giving my best. During this process, I continued my struggle by using anti-inflammatory medication to not leave my team alone. Sometimes, the coach's personal ego should be set aside for the good of the team, but unfortunately, he always prioritized his ego over the team, and the results show that," he said.
WHAT DID ÇALIMBAY SAY?
Çalımbay added that striker Rey Manaj was having a bad day and was ineffective in the match after the Bodrum FK game.
Stating that they were struggling with an inadequate squad, Çalımbay said, "We don't have a sufficient squad. We are trying to play whoever is available. We took risks to win the match, we brought in all the attacking players we could and played them. Rey Manaj needs to put in a bit more effort; Sivas adores him and calls him a 'good player.' Then he will play. He didn't have a single chance; why should I keep a player in the game who has no chances? He was having a bad day, and we took him out," he said.
