As part of the investigation into Şile Municipality, statements from two witnesses have emerged regarding the operation that led to the detention of six individuals, including Mayor Özgür Kabadayı. One of the witnesses confessed to having given an 8 million TL bribe to the municipality for a hotel construction permit.
The Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is conducting an investigation in which 6 people, including Şile Mayor Özgür Kabadayı, were detained at night on charges of "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime," "bribery," "extortion," and "manipulating a tender."
WITNESSES' STATEMENTS REVEALED
While the suspects' procedures at the police continue, some witness statements have emerged. It has been learned that the investigation was initiated based on tips, and there are a total of 6 witnesses, one of whom is confidential.
"AS A CHP MEMBER, IT TOUCHED MY CONSCIENCE, I COULDN'T ACCEPT IT"
A businessman who testified as a witness said, "I am a CHP member by inheritance, and I believed that some things would improve when the CHP came to power. I thought there would be no irregularities with the arrival of a CHP municipality. However, when my friend, who shares the same view, and I were asked for money, it touched my conscience as a CHP member, and I couldn't accept this situation."
"I WITNESSED A BRIBE OF 300 THOUSAND LIRA"
In the continuation of the witness statement, he said, "I applied to fulfill my civic duty. About a year ago, with the election of Özgür Kabadayı, my friend who does the same construction work as me gave a bribe of 300 thousand TL in my office for obtaining a residence permit. I am a direct witness."
"I GAVE A BRIBE OF 8 MILLION TL TO THE MUNICIPALITY"
Another businessman witness stated that he gave a bribe of 8 million TL to the municipality for a hotel construction permit.
