A student at İrsen Küçük Secondary School in Nicosia, TRNC, wanted to enter the school wearing a headscarf again, but faced opposition from the school administration and members of the Turkish Cypriot Secondary Education Teachers' Union. Yusuf İnanıroğlu, the Director of the General Secondary Education Department of the Ministry of National Education, also came to the scene and requested that the child be allowed to enter the school, but this request was denied.
At İrsen Küçük Secondary School, where a 14-year-old girl was not allowed in with her headscarf, the prohibitive Cyprus Turkish Secondary Education Teachers' Union (KTOEÖS) administrators and teachers surrounded the school with iron barriers. The union members who did not allow the headscarf-wearing student into the school also expelled the state official from the door.
THEY DID NOT ALLOW THE OFFICIAL INSIDE
The Director of the General Secondary Education Department of the Ministry of National Education, Yusuf İnanıroğlu, was turned away at the door by a group of teachers and union officials stationed at the school.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?"
The General Secretary of the Cyprus Turkish Teachers' Union, Tahir Gökçebel, made disrespectful remarks to state official Yusuf İnanıroğlu. The prohibitive KTOEÖS Secretary Gökçebel said, "What did you say? You said, 'This was left to the schools.' The school set its own rule. So what are you doing here? You are not the authority of this school. The authority of this school is clear. It has set its own rules."
"I CAN'T LET YOU IN, TEACHER"
In response to Yusuf İnanıroğlu's attempt to open the sliding door, the staff at the door blocked him, saying, "I can't let you in, teacher." The Ministry of National Education Director İnanıroğlu, who was not allowed into the school, later left the area.
