In the investigation into allegations of excessive pricing and market manipulation in the white meat sector, the court made a landmark decision. Upholding the objections of Gedik Piliç, Erpiliç, Keskinoğlu, and Lezita, which had been subject to supervisory receivership measures, the court halted the receivership decision for these four major companies.

A very important legal turn has been taken in the extensive investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, based on allegations that major players in the white meat sector disrupted market functioning and caused unfair price increases. Within the scope of the investigation, the objection made by the sector's giant producers, against whom a "supervisory receivership" measure was ordered, was accepted by the court.

COURT FOUND THE OBJECTIONS JUSTIFIED

According to information obtained; the court, evaluating the objections made through the lawyers of Gedik Piliç, Erpiliç, Keskinoğlu, and Lezita against the supervisory receivership decision, ruled to suspend the measure for these four companies. With this decision, the supervisory receivership practice for these four leading brands of the sector has completely ended.

EYES ON OTHER APPLICATIONS

It has been learned that other companies, which had receivers appointed within the scope of the investigation, have also made similar applications. According to information obtained from legal circles, the court is expected to evaluate the applications of other companies in the coming days. Across the sector, it is anticipated that as of June 17, all other applications will be concluded and the appointment of supervisory receivers will be completely lifted.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVESTIGATION

In the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, which led to the detention of numerous executives through Istanbul-based operations, a supervisory receivership measure was imposed on Banvit, Akpiliç, Bakpiliç, Aspiliç, Bupiliç, Erpiliç, Gedik Pazarlama, Hastavuk, Keskinoğlu, Şenpiliç, Orvital, Aypi, and Lezita. The white meat sector had previously been under scrutiny due to allegations of exorbitant prices. The Competition Board, within the scope of a major investigation completed in 2025, imposed a total administrative fine of approximately 3.7 billion lira on 13 companies operating in the sector for violating market rules.
